Shopping for Barefoot Shoes, UPS, and Quinoa | thoughts

Last weekend, I attempted to find my barefoot shoes in a brick-n-mortar running store. They did not like this minimalist in their midst. It was quite comical how they were trying to convince me to wear stabilized cushion shoes, when I explained I've been a runner over 10 years, 4 of which have been my best as a barefoot-er. Yeah, it was awkward, especially since they were convincing another woman all about her gait and need for superior cushioning and stabilization. Shhhhhhhhh lady was the look I got.

At least we found a great vinegar and olive oil shop next door where we picked up two tasty bottles, one of chocolate vinegar and the other strawberry. Now, I just need vanilla ice cream and spinach! Not together, I suppose.

My half marathon plan commences this week with some new speed work and longer easy runs. Eek... I'll be honest, I am so nervous about the marathon and I haven't even hit the half marathon yet. One day at a time, one run at a time Kate...

It's been a busy week at my house with the UPS man. He's gotten to know us over the years, and now asks how Miles is doing when he stops by! I feel like I should invite him in for tea or something?

I picked up a new pair of Under Armor compression shorts, was sent hot pink ProCompression socks by a new twitter pal (more on that on Thursday) and ordered another hot purple pair; ordered some coconut flour; and now am waiting for a Merrell Barefoot Dash Glove shoe exchange from Zappos. Barefoot runners will always have to shop online, I guess.

I think my go-to meal is starting to be quinoa mac-n-cheese - this time I added tomatoes. Although, I need to cut back on the cheese a bit, so I may have to come up with some other combos soon... maybe one of those vinegars might be yummy!
