Eating Our Way Through Costco and Trying the Nutribullet

Mother’s Day Weekend is kicking off in style! Chris Monkey sent his momma a beautiful box of chocolate covered strawberries at work today. It surely brightened up my Friday and started off the weekend with a huge loving feeling.

These babies were so good, I polished off four of them in less than five minutes. I saved two of them to share with Monkey’s Mar-Mar and Grandma later (the white chocolate ones).

After work, I couldn’t wait to see my baby guy. We took a trip to Costco with Mar-Mar to check out the good deals. Those aren’t my disposables, nooooo! Haha. Mar-Mar buys pull-ups for Monkey for naptime so he doesn’t leak at her house. We’re still mostly cloth diapering, except for at night. The hemp inserts were causing a lot of rashies. While I love to be super-duper-green, sometimes you have to do what’s best for your baby.

I convinced Mar-Mar to get in a picture with her man. These two are lots of fun!

Monkey was busy eating his way through the store. We stopped for cheese quesadillas, hot dogs, chicken, and he also had a cheese stick. He sure takes after his Grandpa. That was one of my favorite things to do with my dad, go to a big boxed store and try out all the snacks on a weekend.

This kid thinks he’s cool putting his feet up and rolling around in the cart. I love those piggies!

After Costco, I don’t know what struck me, but I decided to pop into Target really quick to pick-up the Nutribullet. A lovely aide told me about it a few weeks ago, but I thought it was just the same as the Magic Bullet (which I use daily!). I didn’t think more about it, but I’ve been wanting a Vitamix to juice everything, without the juicing cleanup. At $400+ for the Vitamix, I doubted I’d ever buy one. Then I came across something about the Nutribullet and watched a ton of YouTube videos about it vs. the Vitamix. I had to try it.

YouTube, I love you and the people who put up tester videos to show me how things really work – not the infomercials where it all works perfectly.

If dinner out with Grandma, Mar-Mar and Monkey wasn’t enough, I had to try a green smoothie with the Nutribullet when we got home! Oh, my goodness, I put a banana, an apple, a bunch of kale, flax seed and water in the cup. It mixed up super quick and crushed everything in it’s path. It is double the size of the Magic Bullet, but super powerful.

I have a feeling this baby is going to be my new best friend. I love to eat greens, but sometimes it just gets boring or too much to handle. I’m not a huge fan of kale or swiss chard, but this is going to give me the opportunity to throw it all down the hatch. Jack-la-lane, you’ll have nothing on me 🙂

So, that’s the start of my Mother’s Day Weekend. Isn’t it awesome, it’s no longer one day long? This new generation of Moms has got something right 😉

Tomorrow morning I’ll be up and out with Monkey heading to the Moms Rock Run. I will not be running, but if the rain holds out I’ll be walking the race with Monkey in the Bob. Let’s hope for no rain!!
