Victory is ours.

Chris sent me this message the day we finally agreed on a price and locked in our deal with the seller of our new house about two months ago. It was a grueling week and a half of games and we were glad it was over, yet it only just begun.

I waited to post the image, because until the papers were signed, I wasn’t always sure victory was ours. If you’ve ever bought a home, you understand the process and the headaches that go along with it. This time around, we were better prepared and our end went flawlessly. It wasn’t as flawless on the other end, but magically it all came together to close on July 31st as we had hoped. Right down to the last hour of the day…

Now, it’s been over a week since we’ve become homeowners again and it feels wonderfully exhausting. The first two days we cleaned, painted, and planned a few projects. Over the first three days, we painted Miles’ bedroom, the dining room, renovated the kitchen cabinets by painting them white, steamed the floors a zillion times, changed every switch in the house, put in some new fans, and a whole host of other things I can’t even begin to remember right now… oh yes, renovated bathrooms with toilets, faucets, and paint (and a new kitchen faucet, too).

All of these projects have kept us busy and extremely exhausted. We moved on the fourth day, with lots of help from family. We couldn’t have done it without them! All in all, we are thrilled for our new home, but still trying to get settled in and finish a few projects. Once everything is complete and clean, I’ll post before and after photos. I didn’t anticipate a lot of the projects we’ve decided to do, nor the time it took to do them! Whew!

I can’t believe summer is over in another three weeks. It feels like we didn’t get much of a summer break at all, between the house buying process, moving, and now settling in. I am thankful it happened now, as I could not have imagined all this work and going to work at a new job (wahoo!) at the same time. By September, it’ll be routine around here, at least I hope!

So much gratitude, words cannot describe. We are so very blessed, and I can’t wait to share more. My desk is being built as I type, so I can’t wait to show you more of Chris’ handy-work soon and finally have a place to rest my computer and my “stuff” to open new creative doors.

Enjoy your week, I’ll be here or there. Hopefully, at the beach when the weather is nice!
