Project Complete: New Sliding Door and Windows

Monday, February 25, 2019Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate ~ 2 Comments

Last week our renovation project was completed. First we had the roof replaced and quite an event with that situation, and then we replaced our sliding glass door and a few windows around our home that were either not sealed properly, or single pane and the breeze blew right in. The first major task that … Continue reading Project Complete: New Sliding Door and Windows

The Taxman Cometh

Tuesday, February 19, 2019Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate ~ 2 Comments

Taxes are a funny thing. They are just like death I was once told: you can't escape them. This year I knew our tax bill would be quite a bit different from last year's due to the new laws passed by our leaders, but I wasn't expecting the jump that came to be. If you … Continue reading The Taxman Cometh

Traveling on My Mind

Thursday, January 24, 2019Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate ~ 4 Comments

Now that our children are getting older, I'd like to travel a little more. I keep daydreaming of days or weeks or months away on an adventure to all sorts of places. Those far off places will be years in the making, of saving and preparing, but this year we've got quite a bit on … Continue reading Traveling on My Mind

When it rains, it pours.

Wednesday, January 16, 2019Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate ~ 4 Comments

What a few crazy weeks here at the Nesi house for the start of the new year. This is how I feel these days: But not in a fun way... We're makin' it rain... dollars and cents y'all. The last two weeks included not only a complete roof tear off and replacement down to the … Continue reading When it rains, it pours.

When FIRE Disappoints

Monday, January 14, 2019Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate ~ 2 Comments

I haven't been in the mood to write or work on my podcast in the past month (errrr maybe two months now?). I've been jaded by the FIRE community over the last several months and just felt like I'd rather step away from that focus personally and here on the blog. Which is good I … Continue reading When FIRE Disappoints

Another Fall, Another Oil Change

Monday, November 12, 2018Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate ~ 4 Comments

We had a long weekend break, so it was nice to get some items done around the house. This time, Chris was nice enough to get some action shots of me changing my oil.  You cant see it here, but I'm intensely using a wrench to get off the oil filter cap. This is serious … Continue reading Another Fall, Another Oil Change

Annual Crocheting for the Holidays

Wednesday, October 31, 2018Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate

This fall has found me busily crocheting along for various occasions, including my usual gift giving for Christmas. I thought I'd take a moment to share a baby blanket I recently made for a couple who is expecting their little one (gender unknown!) and they nicknamed baby "Moose" for now. So, I made a gender … Continue reading Annual Crocheting for the Holidays

Indulging in Dark Hawaiian Chocolates

Friday, October 19, 2018Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate

After what happened last month, I've been trying to find a good balance between our savings and mortgage pay off goals as well as enjoying life and experiencing new things. This past month found us ordering chocolates all the way from Hawaii, after seeing an episode all about dark chocolate on Good Eats with Alton … Continue reading Indulging in Dark Hawaiian Chocolates

2018 October Mortgage Pay-off Update ($189,281)

Monday, October 15, 2018Thursday, January 28, 2021 ~ Kate ~ 2 Comments

The summer was a slow time for paying down our mortgage, as we don't make income every summer. So, that means were early retirees each year, right?! As fall approached, some items popped up in our planning for the coming year with regards to travel, so we haven't been able to be as aggressive in … Continue reading 2018 October Mortgage Pay-off Update ($189,281)

Nothing like a good vlugen donut after bloodwork @broadst_doughco #donuts #sugar #kids #mmschocolate
5.5 miles done with Rebecca by the beach. I may have convinced her to do my 9 miler on Saturday with me :) Only 3 weeks ago, 2-3 miles was long. Now 5-6 is a midweek breeze. Loving these warmer sunny days. Added chest/back strength today, too! #bradleybeach #beach #sunshine #oceanlife #training #runchat #galloway #runwalkrun #sanddunes #sand #dunes

30min run done. The start was rough dealing with inflammation in my calves. I came across this rock and after reading it my legs instantly felt better and I hit an old fav 10:00/pace. Running has always been a way I connect with my higher power. Second workout of the day complete :) In other news, got the socks/shorts combo right but long sleeve or a vest would’ve been better. Windy and cool by the water today! #running #runchat #runwalkrun #rocks #seaside #paintedrocks @procompression #socks
45 min run completed on tired legs. I forgot what those felt like. #shells #inlet #shore #seashell
